Before I knew how to explain my work, I knew how to draw.
A fineliner became my way of listening–to my memories, my heritage, and the quiet parts of myself that words couldn't reach.
I often return to the image of thatch houses from my homelands– spaces where we gathered, where stories were shared, where life unfolded in its most honest form. Those homesteads remain a constant reminder of belonging, of community, of where I come from.
in my work, I begin to reimagine those forms– allowing the language of thatch to extend into modern structures, wrapping contemporary buildings in a sense of memory and continuity. It becomes a way of holding onto heritage while shaping something new.
Every line taught me patience. Every artwork became a conversation. Looking back, I wasn't just creating portraits or patterns–I was building an archive of where I come from and who I am becoming.
